MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

Membership in the Marin Yacht Club is by invitation. A prospective member is proposed and seconded by three Regular or Social members of at least one year's good standing. Each of the three Sponsors must be acquainted with the Applicant and write a letter of recommendation. These letters are submitted along with the signed Proposal for Membership form and the completed application. The Applicant is asked to attach a brief personal history.

When the required forms and letters are received, the Secretary will inform the membership in writing of the pending application. All members are encouraged to share any knowledge they may have of the Applicant's character with the Membership Committee. Two weeks after the Applicant's name has been circulated, the Membership Committee Chairperson will contact the Proposer and arrange a mutually convenient time for the prospective member and spouse to appear before the Committee.

At the conclusion of the meeting with the Membership Committee, the Committee meets privately to review the results of the application process. Particular attention is given to comments received from existing members. A positive vote of six of the seven Committee members and subsequent approval by the Board of Directors is required for election to membership. The Secretary is then informed of the action taken.

It is the Proposer's responsibility to ensure that the required documentation is submitted in good order, and to be present at the interview for the purpose of introductions.

Please contact the Membership Committee Chairperson listed in the front of the current Club roster for any additional information required.
